What began as The Tasting Room has grown into something more defined, more intentional, and more reflective of the experience we work to create each night. Today, we are proud to continue that evolution as Cellar & Flame, an elevated steakhouse in downtown Traverse City built around premium hand-cuts, refined seafood, a curated wine cellar, crafted cocktails, and warm, polished service.

The ownership, team, and commitment to hospitality remain the same. The name simply reflects who we have become.

The name Cellar & Flame brings together two parts of our identity.

The Cellar speaks to our love of wine, bourbon, cocktails, and thoughtful pairings. It represents the curated side of the experience: the glass selected to complement a steak, the bottle opened for a milestone dinner, the cocktail that starts the evening with intention.

The Flame speaks to the heart of the kitchen. It represents fire, heat, texture, and the unmistakable character that comes from cooking with purpose. It also reflects the energy of a true steakhouse: rich, warm, confident, and built for a night worth planning.

Introducing Our Wood-Fired Grill

One of the most exciting parts of this new chapter is the addition of our wood-fired grill.

Steak has always been central to who we are, but live fire adds another layer to the experience. It brings depth, aroma, char, and a subtle smokiness that enhances the natural richness of a great cut of beef. It is not about covering up flavor. It is about building on it.

Our kitchen continues to focus on premium hand-cuts, careful preparation, and chef-driven execution. The grill simply gives us a more expressive way to finish those steaks with the kind of character guests expect from a modern steakhouse.

While the name has changed, the standard has not.
