Five years ago, we opened our doors in downtown Traverse City with a simple goal: to create a place where exceptional food, thoughtful service, and memorable evenings could come together. This July, we are celebrating five years of serving our community and the next chapter of our story as Cellar & Flame Steakhouse.

Over the years, our restaurant has grown and changed, but the heart of what we do has remained the same. We want every guest to feel welcomed, cared for, and confident that the meal in front of them was prepared with intention.

From The Tasting Room to Cellar & Flame

Many guests first came to know us as The Tasting Room. That name will always be an important part of our history, but as the restaurant evolved, it became clear that our identity had evolved with it.

Cellar & Flame better reflects the experience we have built: a modern steakhouse centered on the warmth of the fire, the character of a thoughtfully selected wine cellar, and the kind of relaxed, polished hospitality that allows guests to settle in and enjoy the evening.

The new name is not a departure from who we were. It is a clearer expression of who we have become.

A Steakhouse Shaped by Fire

At the center of our menu are wood-fired steaks prepared with close attention to seasoning, temperature, and the flavor that only live fire can create. Our steakhouse cuts are joined by refined seafood, elk, pork, chicken, house specialties, and shareable starters designed to begin the table’s experience together.

From a perfectly cooked filet to fresh seafood paired with a carefully chosen glass of wine, every plate is meant to feel both elevated and approachable. We believe fine dining should be special without feeling stiff.

Built for the Entire Evening

Dinner at Cellar & Flame is intended to be more than a quick stop. It is an opportunity to order a cocktail, share an appetizer, discover a new bottle of wine, and enjoy the people at your table.

Our team works to guide that experience with genuine menu knowledge and attentive service. Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, hosting a business dinner, gathering for a private event, or simply treating yourself to a night out, we want the evening to feel personal.

Proud to Be Locally Owned in Traverse City

Traverse City is more than the location of our restaurant. It is our home. Our families have grown here, and being locally owned shapes the way we think about our guests, our team, and our role in the community.

We are grateful for the local diners who return throughout the year, the visitors who make us part of their time in Northern Michigan, and the guests who have celebrated important moments around our tables.

Looking Ahead

Five years in, we are still refining the details. We are continuing to expand our wine selections, develop new chef features, strengthen our private dining experiences, and find new ways to make each visit memorable.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, recommended us, celebrated with us, and returned to dine with us. We are proud of how far we have come and excited for what is ahead.
